What is the Montessori Method ?
Dr. Montessori believed that every child learns individually and should be encouraged to work at his or her own pace. The Montessori Method allows children to discover and learn from their own experiences and is based on principles including Observation, order, construction and independence in the preapared environment.
In a Montessori classroom, teachers observe children as they walk, quietly offer guidance and prepare them for their next activity when its time to do so. The classroom is designed so that a child can access the Montessori materials easily, freely selecting and replacing them without the ‘ need of adult’s assistance.
Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the highly trained teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children work in groups and individually to discover and explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential.
